back to the grindstone

We had a lovely, low key day with the family yesterday. But now Christmas is over and it's time to get back to business.

I have 1 month to finish LOVE SUCKS! so that's my main focus. I'll be going to the gym today, so don't forget to check out my Fat Chicks blog this afternoon. I have 3.5 months to shed a billion-katrillion pounds and get fit, so I can't miss any workouts between now and then!

How was your holiday? I hope you all had a day filled with whatever you enjoy most and I really hope Santa was very good to you, even if you were naughty. :)

Post-Thanksgiving food hangover

The turkey was falling off the bone. I'm not sure if it was so moist because of the brine, the oven bag, or a combo of both.

I made my loaded mash potatoes as well. Don't worry, we had dressing, too. Never enough bread items for our family...
I decided to 'wing it' with the cranberries. I did 12 oz of cranberries with 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup chopped pecans, cinnamon and orange zest. They were very tasty.
Mmmmm. Olives.

Pecan Pie was a big hit...Rader ate 3 pieces of the pumpkin pie he helped make.
and then my fave--Apple Pie
The table.
Hope your day was as lovely as ours.

end of the week report

Mac is back. She's a little tired from being worked on and having her 80 gig hard drive replaced with a 120 gig hard drive, but she's happy. I still haven't gotten her completely set up--the internetz connection keeps disappearing for no apparent reason. That happened when I first brought Mac home, so I know it's a setting issue and I just have to find it.

The sad news is, her old hard drive = toast. It's so toasted that none of the data was recoverable. We have the drive in our possession, and if ever we have a spare $1000 lying around, we're going to ship the toast to a specialty recovery place and give it the old college try.

I'm totally at peace with the loss. It sucks, but I knew better. And now I'm writing like the wind to try to make up my lost time. The good news is, I really wasn't happy with what I had written, so this forces me to back the hell up and start over from chapter 2. I can do that. It's a good thing I'm a fairly fast writer!!!

I am going to pick up my running today. My cold has moved out of my head. It's trying to move into my chest but I'm fighting it. I have that damn persistent itch between my ear and my throat. I've been tempted to take a wire hanger to my ear...but every time I turn on the closet light to find the right utensil, a panicked voice starts whispering "No More Wire Hangers!" and it freaks me out.

A Rader Story:
I realized the other day I haven't told you guys a Rader story in a long time. It's a shame really, because he's always so damn entertaining. I'm sure we'll have more inappropriate conversations to report at some point--but there will never be another licking nipples report. That was just too much.

Rader is a charmer. He always has been. And I've always known his charm was going to be the death of me. Last night, I got the full effect of his charm and his sense of humor. Now, the child is only 10, but he's tall and handsome and he carries himself like a teenager half the time. We were sitting in the living room and Fishdog told Rader to take his folded clothes from the coffee table and put them in his room. Rader (without missing a beat) winked at me, smiled and said "Sure." He knew he was being cheeky and he was completely unapologetic about it. That one little wink struck me as so intentionally flirty--like the hot guy in high school flirting with the cute quiet girl.

When he winked, I flashed forward five years and saw exactly what kind of young man he was going to be. And boy are we in trouble. Charming, good looking, funny, flirty and smart. I am not ready for this. The mothers of the girls of Little Rock are not ready for this...

Hope you guys have a great weekend. I'll be busy WRITING (I know, you're shocked). I'll also be running and blogging over at FatChicksRunning so don't forget to stop by!

the fried extravaganza

The Fried Twinkie tasted like a cream-filled funnel cake. I'd eat it again.
The 'Pig Lickers'? (Chocolate covered bacon)
I took one bite and nearly threw up.
Rader and Fishdog had a different opinion. They liked it.

I couldn't make myself try the Fried Dr. Pepper. But the beverages I did have, were fantastic.

and so was the company!

state of the fair...

So the family and I are headed to the Arkansas State Fair today when the kids get out of school. I haven't been to the fair in forever.

Get this, they've been talking all week about the new 'on a stick' foods available at this year's fair.
Fried Dr. Pepper: estimated 820 Calories
Chocolate covered bacon (aka Pig Lickers) : 683 calories
And of course there are the standards:
Fried Twinkies: up to 700 calories depending on the size you order
Fried Snickers: 450 calories
Foot long corndogs (yum): 375 calories (winner!)
Why must we fry everything? Has anyone tried the Fried Soda/Choc covered bacon/Fried Twinks/or Fried Snickers? Can you tell me about it? (after the heart attack, I mean)

I'll be honest, I'm tempted to try a Fried Twinkie. But I just don't think I can do it. Why? Because I'm terrified I'll like it and then where will I be? On a gurney being rushed into the ER with someone sitting on top of me breaking my ribs and blowing air into my lungs.

What do you guys think? Should I tempt fate and blow my diet by foraging into the fried food fabulousness of the fair? What do you think I should try?

the holiday

For a recap of how we survived a near monsoon on Saturday, click the banner:
Fictionistas

'Brother Joe' and family came for a visit this weekend. We had a great time. We don't see them often enough, honestly. They live in the Raliegh area, which is a 14 hour drive from here. And my niece plays very competitve soccer, so more often than not, they aren't even home. they're traveling from soccer pitch to soccer pitch watching my niece be awesome.

Friday was the 4th and we decided to spend that day down at the Rivermarket instead of going to the lake with everyone else.

Our visit downtown started off a little rocky because we had the kids with us. The only places that seemed to be open were Bar/Restaurants. Arkansas passed a law that states you can smoke indoors if you do not allow anyone under 21 into your establishment. Well, that's all fine and good when other places are open. We were hungry and frankly, we need a place to eat quick, fast, and in a hurry. We finally found Gusano's was opened...it's a pizza place. My SIL and Niece aren't big pizza eaters, but they had other things on the menu. The most important thing was that minors could eat there. The 2nd most important thing: they had beer available.

Guasano's was ill-prepared for the 4th family crowd and only had 2 waitresses who were doing it all. I even joked about jumping behind the bar and slinging drinks. One of the waitresses looked at me with hope in her eyes...but I didn't do it. Their management team should be smacked silly for their lack of prep.

The food was good, even if it did take longer than it should've. After lunch, we walked along the river, the kids got airbrushed tattoos and we visited the Clinton Presidential Libary. We left as a storm rolled in. (wish we would've had that luck on Saturday.)

That night, we were going to take the kids back to the river to see the fireworks, but they weren't interested. So we left them to their own devices (I love having teens) and we adults grabbed a cab and headed back downtown...to Willy D's, a dueling piano bar. Much fun was had that night. Maybe too much fun. Either way, it was another late night downtown and when I woke up on Saturday, I was hoarse from all the singing. Pictures were taken that night...but not by me. I'll have to track those down though, cuz all photo evidence of that night must be pre-approved by me before posting. LOL

we are family!

Had a great dinner last night. I fixed one of my favorite new dishes...and I spiced it up with some Tiger sauce. It was almost too spicy for a few folks. My bad.

The wine and conversation flowed and I finally had to call it a night about 11:00. I didn't wanna wake up cranky for work today, so I headed to bed.

Where I promptly had a nightmare.

Don't you hate it when you have bad dreams? This was so real that I woke up in a panic. My heart and mind were racing. It took me a few minutes to calm down and realize it was all a dream. Unfortunately, it took me even longer to get back to sleep.

It's all good now.

I'm not sure if I'll be blogging or not the rest of the weekend. Who knows? Sometimes I surprise myself. If you don't see me around, I'll be the sungoddess on Lake Ouachita.

won't be long

before Brother Joe and clan arrive. We're having Salsa Chicken, wild rice, and salad.

And beer.

You know, I realized that even though I'm down a size since March, I'm now stagnant in my weightloss again. I've reverted back to some bad habit *koff* beer *koff* and I've stopped walking and going to the gym. I gotta get back on the wagon. So, after the 4th, I'm back on track. There will be no more very little partying. I can't stop now!

I got a text from Grant. They're having a blast at the Lake of the Ozarks. Can you imagine the havoc 20 or so hot British Soccer players are causing right about now? I bet there isn't a cold bed in that county this week.

Those were the days...

thanks, y'all

I really appreciate the love during yesterday's slight meltdown.

I'm all better now. Promise. It was just bad news at a bad time and now it's over. We all have shitty days sometimes.

My BIL and his family are going to be here today. (you'll see him comment as 'brother joe' sometimes.) I'm excited. We haven't seen them in two years. Unfortunately, my house is still a wreck after the British Invasion over the weekend. So, I'm having Fishdog put our slaves kids to work today. Hopefully they won't be here til sometime tonight. Otherwise, they may rethink their decision to stay with us cuz the house is just this side of Zoo.

Do y'all have big plans for the weekend? We're headed to the lake on the 5th--staying here for the 4th. Decided it would be better to stay away from the lake crowd on Friday and hit it Saturday. Probably will be just as crowded, but who cares. It'll stil be fun.

With any luck, next week some of the lads from 'Team Maumelle' will be back to run a camp in Bryant. (my hometown) Hopefully we'll get to see them. Justin said he thought he might get assigned to that camp, which would be awesome. Maybe I'll get a few more 'morning' pictures. :)

I know Grant won't be in Bryant--which is sad for us, but oh well. He's going for a full-time job here in the states. If he gets it, then we'll be seeing him more. That'll be good for us. I miss him when he's gone. He really is a part of our family.

So, tell me about your plans. What's going on over the 4th? And to my Canadian friends, did you do anything fun yesterday? Happy Belated Canada Day!

the british are coming!

Many of y'all will remember two years ago when we hosted our first set of soccer coaches. Grant and Simon swooped in and ate us out of house and home and stole our hearts in the process. We also ended up 'adopting' all the coaches by the end of the week. I'm still in touch with all the gang and a few more member of the self-proclaimed "Dream Team" that we met throughout the summer.

Last year, we had two other coaches. Del and Rob. Del and I exchange emails some. He's in California and enjoying it tremendously.

Well, now that's it's summer and we're no longer in Oxford, we've had to find a new soccer camp. As luck would have it, Maumelle hosts the Challenger Soccer camp every year, and apparently it's one of the best ones around...So we signed the boys up. And we asked to host.

And guess who's coming?

My wee lad Grant! I haven't seen him in two years. We email quite a bit and he calls us every few weeks to check in, but we're going to get to see him live and in person now! Yippee!!!

We spent the day yesterday with the Maumelle Soccer club doing a 3 v 3 tournament. What a warm and friendly group. Fishdog and I are going to let the boys try out for their classic soccer team. We really like the sense of community that club had. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It was a nice change to the Little Rock club, which I think has just grown too big to be friendly.

Anyway, today we're tidying the house and getting it ready to be destroyed by the coaches. We have Grant, and 2 other lads from Manchester. I'm stoked. Should be a great (and very tiring) week.

For more pics and "lad" related blogs"

Hey Audrey! We're gonna miss you!!!

weekend recap

First of all, I'm over at Fictionistas today talking about dreams...

This weekend was a big bag of fun. Saturday, we went to the lake with another family and it was The. Perfect. Day. Honestly. The only way it could've possibly been any better would be if would've remembered to reapply my face sunscreen.

Here are some pics.
look ma, no hands! (Mel: putting the girls to work)

Um. What do I do now?

King and Queen Dork.

Hang on boys!

The girls at rest.
Too cool for school.

Nerd talk on a lake.

Captain Mom and her first mate.

Fishdog and Rader.

Captain Mom and the boat jester.

Sunday was a very productive day. I brainstormed another book with Maria and wrote the synopsis. And today I've written 7 more pages on it! I'm totally into my new characters. This is such a fun story. Of course, all my stories are fun...I wouldn't have it any other way.

Did you have a good weekend? What did you do?

recapping my weekend

Luau pictures are 2 posts below. We had about 50 people and kidlets overall. I was a bad photog and forgot to start taking pictures until about 4 hours in. I'll never be a paparazzi.

Sunday we woke in a haze. It was hot, humid and our house looked like a Frat Bomb had exploded in it. And we'd even straightened up some the night before. We cleaned a little but mostly we just lounged around then took Ian to Wild River Country and Rader to see Indiana Jones. (Okay, is there anyone out there who DIDN'T see IJ this weekend?) Fun movie. Definitely not the best of the series, but totally entertaining.

Monday we finally decided to head up to the lake. I took loads of pictures. It was a gorgeous day but the water was just too cold for my liking! We had a great time soaking up the sun and relaxing.

The house still isn't back to normal but honestly, I don't care. LOL It is going to have to wait.

hello moto...

Don't ask me why that is my blog title this morning. It just is.

I woke around 4:30 to a lovely rain shower. A nice change from the thunderstorms we've had lately. After I drifted back to sleep, I had some weird dreams and finally made myself get out of bed and go buy groceries.

I love grocery shopping early on Sundays. Most often the only other people there are the ones who woke to realize they had no coffee in the house, or the ones who are just getting in from their night out.

Today, however, that was not the case. It wasn't crowded, but there were too many 'normal' shoppers there. What were they thinking doing their regular shopping on MY shopping day? Didn't they get the memo?

Imagine my disgust when the checkout line was 4 deep and the cute little oriental lady was the only checker. "You. Go self-scan." She points and directs me and this other lady. "No more checkers. You go self-scan."

Dude, I have a basket full of groceries. There is no self-scan big enough for my load. The lady in front of me refuses. Finally I say, "Fine. I'll self-scan."

I don't have a problem with self-check out. I actually prefer it...but I had a ton of groceries. And of course, the self-scan line backed up with 5 people and their two items each, all giving me the stink-eye.

"Hey. Not my idea. Was sent over here."

They all look at me like, whatever.

But I finish self-scan and realize that I still beat the lady over on aisle 4. Haha.

Ian gets home today from his 3 day trip in DC. We heard from him a couple of times. Yesterday he said he only got about 30 mins of sleep the night before. Um. Wah? He should sleep well tonight. In honor of his return, we're having ribs, baked potatoes, and salad. Jealous much?

happy momma's day

For Mother's Day, I plan to continue cleaning my house then watch the Season Finale of Survivor in peace. I may make the family watch it with me. Rader likes Survivor, so he'll watch. Either way, that's what I want.

I took a quiz this morning to find out who my inner rock chick is. Heh.

You Are Ani Difranco!

Honest, real, and well liked.

You're not limited by any boundaries.

"And you can call me crazy

But I think you're as lazy as white paint on the wall"

Who's Your Inner Rock Chick?

Who's yours?

Ian had confirmation last night. We were almost blown away by a tornado, but we survived. I have no idea if the sirens went off--the church was quite loud. It was a bilingual service and we had 65 kids to confirm, so it was a very long service. Thankfully, it wasn't the 3 hours we were told it would be. I think they told us to prepare for 3 hours so that when the service was 'only' 2 hours long, we'd be grateful.

I'll post pictures when I can find my camera cord. Sigh.

oh alice!

That damn Alice never did come bail me out. I still blame Sam. Last I heard, he had whisked her off to Jamaica and they were have a good time at Hedonism. Well, despite the fact she abandoned me for Naked Twister, my kitchen is clean and I did manage to vacuum the front room and do some laundry. That's about it.

We had a busy weekend. Ian had detention Saturday. (which was totally my fault. I kept a signed slip of paper an extra day. He got written up for it. Excessive much?) Anyway, after detention, Rader had basketball practice for 2 hours and Ian had a soccer game in a town 30 minutes away. Then we had a friend in town who stopped by for a visit.

Sunday we did it all again. Ian went to watch his girlfriend play soccer and we took Rader to his soccer game in Conway (where Ian's game was Saturday). It was BLUSTERY! We had 76 degree (but windy) weather Saturday, and yesterday it was barely 50 degrees and so windy I thought we were gonna blow away! WTF? I want my spring weather back, dammit!

Last night, Fishdog and I watched No Reservations. Okay, I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick to death of these movies being advertised as something they are not. It's not a romantic comedy. Not even close. It had its moments, but it was definitely not a "funny movie." It was more boring than anything. And serious. I wasn't happy.

We have August Rush and Mr. Woodcock left to watch. Hopefully they will be better.

Did y'all do anything fun this weekend? Is your house cleaner than mine? I hope so.

how was your weekend?

Mine was all good. Saturday, Fishdog and I took the boys to the local microbrewery, Vino's for pizza (and of course, beer us "adults.") Then we headed over to the school to watch the 7th and 8th grade girls play basketball. That was a lot of fun.

What was even more fun was watching my son crush hard on this girl. He really likes her. They're "dating" now. Not that you can really date in 8th grade, but what else can you call it? Anyway, when he looks at her or talks about her, his ears turn red.

Cutest. Thing. Ever.

Saturday night, Fishdog and I took Rader to see the Spiderwick Chronicles. I haven't read the books, but the movie was very cute. I'm betting the books are loads better. I hated the cheesy way they filmed the ending of the movie. I'm sure that in the books it was less melodramatic and super cheesy. It almost ruined a perfectly lovely film for me. Rader enjoyed it.

We would've gone to see Jumper, but Ian and his girlfriend went and I didn't want them to feel like I was watching over them. (though I totally wanted to spy)

Today is a holiday, so the kids are out of school. I'm going to get them out of the house at some point. But until then, I've got to get back to work on my new proposal.

Check you later, bitches.

yawn...

I woke up at 5:55 this morning. Would somebody please tell my body it's the weekend and I don't have to take the kids to school? Ruby and I slept downstairs last night because my room looks like it was the victim of a tornado. I've cleaned out all my drawers and am purging through the copious amounts of t-shirts we have. I mean really, who needs a chest and a dresser full of t-shirts?

Ruby is doing better, thanks for asking. Best $10 I ever spent. She's had 3 phantom yelping episodes since Thursday, but that's better than the every five minute episodes.

At 6:12 this morning, both boys got out of bed. Would somebody please tell them it's the weekend and to go the fark back to bed?

Mark was supposed to come home yesterday from Oxford, but he got caught up in work, so he's heading home this morning. He says he's gonna leave before 8. Anyone wanna take bets on what time he actually leaves?

Well, I guess since I'm up, I may as well make the most of it and finish my room. I hate cleaning, but the house is a pit so I should get to it.

Have a happy Saturday!

the sound of silence

Well, except for my neighbor's dogs...

The kids are at school.

I've already been to the gym.

Fishdog is at school for Lunchroom duty. (LOL)

And now, I'm going to write.

I love starting a new story--it really is my favorite part of writing because anything goes. No Rules; just Write. It's fun to discover new characters, find their voice and discover the voice of the book.

So, I'm going to write on Back to Blue until I get word from my editor on Bite Me! And I'll enjoy meeting these new people...and I'll probably really like them until about page 100 when the writing gets tough. Funny how that always seems to happen.

a touching holiday moment

Before I get to my story, let me first say that I am constantly surprised at the irony of Christmas. We spend days, weeks, months (okay, days) preparing for a holiday that is over in a matter of moments. No. Not moments. Milliseconds. Nanoseconds. Real Damn Quick.

This Christmas morning was no different. The boys were very happy with this morning's haul of gadgets, games, books and clothes. Oh. And candy. Lots of candy.

My favorite gift of theirs was Guitar Hero, Legends of Rock. Oh yeah. I am the goddess of suck, but it sure is fun. (pictures may or may not follow, we'll see)

Now onto the important part of this blog. My touching holiday story.

As you all may have read the other day, my momma was burglarized just one week before Christmas. It sucked...mainly because the assholes took only jewelry and most of what they took was irreplaceable in the sentiment department. Such as the pearl necklace that my daddy gave my momma the day my brother was born. Yeah, can't really replace that.

But we tried.

The next day, I called a couple of jewelers and I managed to get a hold of Pat Baker of Baker's Fine Jewelry in Bryant, AR. I told her what happened to Mom and said that I'd like to purchase a pearl necklace if they had the right size/length in the store. They did. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it was for my momma, and honestly, I didn't care. I'll find the money somewhere.

I rushed to the store, purchased the beautiful strand, they wrapped it and I immediately took it to Momma's and placed it under her tree. It was there for a whole week...thank God she didn't see it. LOL

So today, after the kids had shredded all their presents and Mom was busy cleaning up, I made her sit down and open her special present.

I could cry right now, thinking about her reaction.

See the thing about my momma is, she doesn't show emotion (other than anger, she shows that one really, really well.) Funny how opposite we are in that manner. I cry when I'm mad, I cry when I'm happy...I'm an indiscriminate crier.

I can now say I've seen my momma tear up twice in her life. Once when her momma died--and today.

It was the most special moment ever.

Thank you to the assholes who burglarized my mom's house...because if you hadn't taken that necklace, my family wouldn't have been able to make this the most special Christmas ever for my momma.

She really liked the necklace.

hullloooooo!

Do you hear the echo on my blog? When I woke up this morning, I thought Hmmm, I should blog and when a tumbleweed rolled by, I realized it really was starting to look like a ghost town around here.

I'm trying (and obviously failing) to get into a blog routine again. I haven't felt the mojo lately. I'm sure it's because I've been blowing and going since before Thanksgiving. Moving is stressful enough, but to move during the holidays and while working on your first set of revisions? As my favorite Angry Beaver would say, That's just NUTS!

Fishdog is in Oxford this week, so dudes, call him tonight if y'all wanna go out for a bevvy. He'd appreciate it. Especially since he came home to discover the heat had gone out. Oh yeah, nothing like trying to get cozy in a 53 degree empty house (well, there is a bed). Brrrr. Just add 'fix heater' to our long list of things to do. (Thanks, Dino for putting him up for the night!)

Christmas shopping is done except for the stocking stuffers. I have to mail out 4 gifts today...one of them is my Romance Diva Secret Santa gift. I hope the person I picked loves it! I'm also mailing my CPs their gifts and my niece in North Carolina hers.

We still don't have a tree. Fishdog has been kinda Grinchy lately. Can you believe he actually suggested we CANCEL CHRISTMAS? hello!!! Are you kidding me? I've been living with my mother for 4 months. I deserve Christmas. And so do the boys. So, we're getting a tree today. I don't care if it's a Charlie Brown tree...it's still a tree. Fishdog says he's bringing me my decorations from Oxford. I won't over do the decorating--Christmas is only a week away. But I do want to hang the stockings and a wreath.

Okay, I'm hitting my revisions now. They're due Friday and maybe a Christmas miracle will happen and I'll get them finished! :) It'll be down to the wire, that's for sure. What's been going on with y'all? You done shopping? You started shopping? Wrapping? Did you overspend this year or is that just status quo?

i'll be back...

I'm in the trenches, finishing Bite Me! and trying to do this whole buying a house thing. Plus I still have to play the role of Momma while living at home with my momma. (that ends Monday!) And then there's the fallout of having to clean up the mess the asshole thieves tried to make of our bank account. Gee, any wonder why I call this blog Mel-O-Drama?

Anything going on with y'all?

FWIW, I would rather be here right now:
Where would you rather be?

run ian run!

My panic attack is well contained now. I wrote like the wind today, adding 13 new pages so far and will continue tonight after Rader's soccer game.

Yesterday, Ian ran in his 3rd cross-country meet. They award the top twenty runners with ribbons and on his 1st meet, Ian came in 23rd. Close, but no cigar.

His 2nd meet, he kicked major ass, and came in 16th. Score a ribbon!

Yesterday, the track was a little longer and a little tougher. But not tough enough to keep that boy of mine out of the top 2o! He was 2oth and he walked away with another ribbon.

I'm very proud of my #1 boy. He's never been a runner before. He's now been running 3 days a week for about 6 weeks. He's getting better and better. I hope he sticks it out.

Here's a camera phone pic of my baby running toward the finish line.

meet gizzard

Yes, I said Gizzard. I didn't name him, I just serve him.

Giz is a chihuahua/dachshund mix. Or you can call him a Chi-weenie or a Weeniehuahua (weenie-wahwah). He belongs to my BIL, but while Bonehead is on the USS Comfort on a humanitarian tour of duty, Gizzard is staying with the inlaws. And right now, so am I.

Gizzard really likes me and he spends lots of time in my lap or the crook of my arm. He really likes the computer, and sleeping under the covers.

We tell Gizzard he's beautiful, and if you think otherwise, keep it to yourself.

hello again.

I took a day off from Blogging because I was too busy writing. I had a bit of a breakthrough yesterday and it felt great and I didn't wanna break the momentum to talk about nothing.

Which, let's face it, my blog is the "Seinfeld" of blogs. Which is fine. Apparently I can talk about nothing all day long.

I'm sitting in Community Bakery this morning, enjoying my hubby's company and my cup o' joe. We've been temporarily relocated to my in-laws' house, due to an unfortunate septic tank incident. Fishdog's parents don't have a wireless network. Hell, they barely have internet, truth be told. So, we had to set out this morning for food and our internet fix. MUST. CHECK. MAIL. she says, thumping a vein...Hurry. Hurry....

Ahhhhhh. Much better. I can't imagine not being able to wake up and log in to delete the 17 spam messages I get every morning.

I'll be spending next week in Oxford. My plan is to become a hermit inside my own home and write. I have a lofty page count goal, but since I'll have no kids, no hubby, no carpool line, no soccer, no cross-country...I might be able to hit my mark.

Today I have my first hair appointment since relocating. This girl has been highly recommended by a friend and apparently enjoys a client who enjoys changing her hair. We'll see what happens...

So what's going on with you? Anything big happen this week or any plans for next?

Oh and before I forget...

i'm a loser...but i'm having fun

So, Marley wins...I mean, 'Bama wins. We sucked. It sucked. I drank and didn't care after a while. But I still love my Piggies and I'm still a Houston Nutt supporter. Go Hogs. Sorry you brought home the big L tonight.

After the game and many beers, we pulled out the Fishdog's new Mac Powerbook. I love this machine. I love typing on it and I love the fact that I can take funky pictures with it.
